Welcome to Peel Maternity & Family Practice

An exciting concept in the care of mum's & their new babies

The practice although a general practice, will only care for maternity patients and their babies in the immediate post partum period.  We provide comprehensive management from conception through the antenatal period, delivery and post natal check ups.  We also provide contraceptive advice and management including Implanon,  and IUD insertion and removal, as well as PAP smears, STD screening and other minor gynaecological procedures and advice.  After birth and for routine general practice matters patients will need to return to their own GP.

In our practice we have GP Obstetricians and midwives. We provide a coordinated and holistic team approach, with a small family atmosphere. The midwives provide much of the day to day care with the doctors in a more supervisory role, becoming more involved if problems develop. We have in house ultrasound and monitoring systems, but screening FTS, FAS scans will be referred to specialist imaging providers.

We are a GP-Obstetric led practice, not specialist obstetrics and gynaecology; therefore you do not require a referral.  If you have already seen a doctor in your pregnancy we would appreciate copies of all results be sent to us.  We believe this service, which is quite unique in WA will provide an excellent and holistic model of care.  If for some reason specialist involvement were necessary we will refer you on, either to local or Perth specialists, or to King Edward Memorial Hospital (tertiary obstetrics hospital).

We are happy to either do shared care with your GP or to care for you entirely throughout your pregnancy.  Many local GP’s are very comfortable and experienced in antenatal care.  Shared care is a good way to maintain continuity of care as they will be the ones looking after you and your new family after birth.  Feel free to talk about this with us or your own doctor.
